Cultuur brengt mensen samen, biedt troost en creëert een gemeenschappelijke toekomst. Want cultuur biedt de ruimte om voorbij de waan van de dag te kijken. Dat vonden onze oprichters - waaronder Robert Schuman, founding father van de EU - ook toen zij in 1954 de European Cultural Foundation oprichtten: “De Europese Cultural Foundation is opgericht om het Europese sentiment te stimuleren […], om de ontwikkeling van wederzijds begrip en democratische solidariteit te bewerkstelligen door middel van het ondersteunen van culturele en educatieve activiteiten van gemeenschappelijk belang.”

Objectives

Onze visie is een verenigd Europa dat een positieve bijdrage aan het oplossen van de meest voorkomende en dringende problemen van onze tijd. Dat zijn wij in de eerste plaats een fundament voor Europa dat zich laat leiden door een Europees algemeen belang. Cultuur creert die ruimte waarin wij in Europa begrijpen hoe we kunnen samenleven, onze identiteit begrijpen en ons thuis voelen. Wij ontwikkelen en ondersteunen initiatieven met een focus op cultuur, onderwijs, klimaat en civil society die bijdragen aan een gedeeld Europees thuisgevoel.

About the organization

De European Cultural Foundation (ECF) heeft als doel het ondersteunen en bevorderen van grensoverschrijdende culturele activiteiten in Europa die bijdragen aan een open, inclusieve en democratische samenleving. Ze streven naar het stimuleren van solidariteit, wederzijds begrip en democratische solidariteit in Europa. De ECF financiert verschillende soorten goede doelen en projecten. Het ondersteunen van culturele projecten die bijdragen aan een gedeeld Europees thuisgevoel, het bevorderen van culturele uitwisseling, en het versterken van diversiteit, levendigheid en de toekomst van Europa zijn belangrijke doelen van de ECF. Ze geven subsidies, voeren programma's uit, ondersteunen netwerken en voeren onderzoek uit. Ze lobbyen ook voor een effectief Europees cultuurbeleid. Voorbeelden van gefinancierde projecten zijn: - The Europe Challenge is een jaarlijks programma waarin openbare bibliotheken en hun lokale gemeenschappen werken aan oplossingen voor maatschappelijke uitdagingen – die zowel op Europees als lokaal niveau spelen. - The European Pavilion was ons multidisciplinaire artistieke programma waarin partners de toekomst voor Europa verkennen, over nationale grenzen heen. - Met DISPLAY EUROPE ondersteunen we de ontwikkeling van een publieke Europese (media-) ruimte.
