KZF working with the marginalised rural people specifically women, Children, Youth and people with disability 

Specifically two districts in Zambia -Chongwe and Rufunsa

Chongwe and Rufunsa Districts in Lusaka Province are predominantly rural areas where livelihoods depend heavily on rain-fed smallholder agriculture and natural resources. In recent years, these districts have experienced increasing climate variability characterised by prolonged dry spells, erratic rainfall patterns, delayed onset of the rainy season, and occasional flash floods. These climate-related shocks have significantly reduced agricultural productivity, weakened household food security, and increased vulnerability among already marginalised populations. Women, youth, and persons with disabilities are particularly affected by these changes. Women play a central role in food production and household water management but often lack access to productive resources, climate information, and decision-making opportunities. Youth face limited livelihood prospects, increasing their exposure to unsustainable natural resource use. Persons with disabilities are frequently excluded from community planning processes and climate information systems, further heightening their vulnerability during climate shocks. Although national climate and disaster management systems exist, last-mile dissemination of climate and early-warning information to rural communities remains weak. As a result, households often rely on reactive coping strategies rather than proactive adaptation measures. Building on previous work supported under the Voice for the Just Climate Action (VCA) programme, this project will strengthen community-led climate resilience by revitalising local structures, promoting climate-smart livelihood practices, and improving inclusive access to climate and early-warning information.
