Eenmanszaak: Paadmaan projects

Paadmaan is an independent artist-run, and nomadic platform for contemporary art with an interdisciplinary approach that seeks to expand it within various artists’ communities, support their input and transform into output.

By this time we will have programs below:
- Urban Nature Explorations
- Digital Storytelling for Environmental Issues
- Archive Exhibition

Memory, understood as a dynamic process that connects past experiences with future possibilities, plays a pivotal role in shaping our relationship with the environment. This makes reflecting on the past essential for envisioning and planning for the future. EcoTales aims to survey environmental issues and encourage public engagement by developing a digital archive, sharing environmental stories, and creating exhibitions.

We are supposed to collaborate with the street (Wolphaertstraat) art communities like www.w1555.org / www.ribrib.nl and varia.zone as well as other communities and individuals. 

Weekly Team Check-ins: Our team will hold weekly meetings to review the progress of the project against our planned objectives. This will allow us to address any issues promptly and ensure that we are staying on track with our goals.

Regular Updates to the Online Archive: The project includes an online archive, which will serve as a living document of our progress. We plan to update this archive regularly with new content and developments. By monitoring the updates and the overall growth of the archive, we will be able to assess how well we are advancing toward our project objectives.

Community Engagement: Even though I live in Wolphaertstraat, one of the most artistic streets in Rotterdam, where I’m in close contact with various art and culture communities, getting the wider neighborhood involved remains a significant challenge. While the project doesn't hinge on the number of participants, fostering engagement from local residents is important for creating a richer, more diverse digital archive and exhibition. Encouraging community involvement in this interdisciplinary initiative may require more effort and sustained outreach than initially anticipated.

Interdisciplinary Complexity: The interdisciplinary nature of EcoTales, which integrates art, science, and technology, requires more time and coordination than anticipated. Balancing these diverse fields introduces complexities, particularly in ensuring that all project elements are effectively integrated and accessible to a broad audience. This could slow down progress and may necessitate longer timelines for certain aspects of the project

EcoTales

EcoTales is an interdisciplinary initiative that explores the perceptual and experiential dimensions of environmental perception through the integration of art, science, and technology, all viewed through the lens of memory. Memory, understood as a dynamic process that connects past experiences with future possibilities, plays a pivotal role in shaping our relationship with the environment. This makes reflecting on the past essential for envisioning and planning for the future. EcoTales aims to survey environmental issues and encourage public engagement by developing a digital archive, sharing environmental stories, and creating exhibitions.


Project Outcomes:
Digital Archive: A digital platform that features a detailed mapping of local environmental elements. It includes information on plant species and textures, a visual narrative of the area's landscape, and reflections on abiotic components. The archive also provides an abstract analytical land map, an interactive online quiz, and curated resources related to other aspects of the project.
Urban Nature Explorations: A series of guided art walks and digital exhibitions focusing on hidden natural landscapes within urban settings. These explorations will show often-overlooked natural beauty in cities, helping participants build a deeper connection with their local environment.
Digital Storytelling for Environmental Issues: A digital storytelling initiative that addresses local environmental issues by actively involving community members in the creative process. The stories will be collected into the digital archive, contributing to a collective historical understanding of local environmental challenges.
Archive Exhibition: A physical exhibition displaying the environmental stories, data, and artistic expressions created through the project. The exhibition will include interactive elements, spaces for community artwork, and opportunities for learning and sharing knowledge.
