Open House Amsterdam 2027 - Inaugural Festival

Open House Amsterdam brings architecture and the stories of the city to a broad public through a free festival. Building visits, tours and conversations offer informal learning about architecture, heritage and urban life, while creating opportunities for people to meet and connect with their neighbourhoods. The programme encourages curiosity and discussion about Amsterdam’s shared future.

The festival is open to everyone, including Amsterdam residents and visitors of all ages and backgrounds. No knowledge of architecture is needed. Free admission aims to lower financial barriers and invite people who might not normally take part in architecture or cultural events to discover the city.

The festival takes place across Amsterdam, with a programme being developed across the city's neighbourhoods, including areas beyond the centre. Buildings and individual activities will be announced once participation and practical arrangements are confirmed.

The project combines architecture and culture, informal education and community participation. Free building visits, tours and conversations will help residents and visitors understand how Amsterdam's buildings shape everyday life and meet the people who live, work and create in them.

The festival is open to residents and visitors of all ages and backgrounds. No architectural knowledge is needed. Free admission aims to lower financial barriers and welcome people who do not usually attend architecture or cultural programmes. Access information will be provided for each participating location.
