Day care centers for aged persons are community-based facilities designed to provide care, support, and engagement for elderly individuals during the day. These centers aim to promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of senior citizens, particularly those who may be socially isolated or in need of supervised care.

fostering economic growth and sustainability. 
The establishment of a millet hub in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, offers several feasibility and 
advantages that make it a viable and valuable endeavor for the region. Here's an overview of 
the feasibility and advantages of this project in Trichy.

To measure whether the project objectives are achieved, a results-based monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework should be used. Below is a breakdown of each objective along with suggested key performance indicators (KPIs) and methods of measurement:
1. Increased Millet Cultivation
Objective: Expansion of cultivation areas and improved yields per hectare.
Indicators:
Hectares of land under millet cultivation (baseline vs. endline).
Average yield per hectare (kg/ha).
Methods:
Periodic farmer surveys.
Remote sensing/GIS mapping.

2. Enhanced Food Security

Objective: Greater availability and consumption of nutrient-rich millets.
Indicators:
Household consumption rate of millets (kg per capita).

AHIMSA Rural Millet Hub in Trichy -ARaMH

In India’s patriarchal context, women are often defined by their relationships with men—as wives, mothers, or daughters. This societal structure deeply marginalizes single women, a category that includes women who are never married, separated, divorced, abandoned, widowed, or whose husbands are missing (often referred to as “half-widows”). Also included are women living without their spouses for at least one year and single mothers. These women face numerous challenges including violence, exclusion, limited access to services, and systemic denial of rights.

Their status renders them vulnerable within their families and communities. Due to widespread patriarchal norms, single women are often denied access to property, inheritance, secure employment, and social recognition. They are seen as incomplete or burdensome, and their economic and social needs are commonly neglected. Although some policy measures, like the 2016 Draft National Policy for Women and Tamil Nadu’s 2021 policy on single women, acknowledge their vulnerability, implementation remains limited.

Among single women, those with adult sons face unique challenges. There is a societal assumption that sons will provide support, leading to the denial of welfare benefits and ignoring the woman’s independent identity and needs. This reinforces the stereotype that single women cannot exist autonomously.

The Goat Rearing Project aims to empower and uplift old widows in Vaiyampatti block by providing a sustainable source of income through livestock management. This initiative is designed to address economic vulnerability among widows.

Establish child protection committees to monitor and address issues like abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
Implement local helplines and reporting mechanisms to ensure timely intervention.
Promoting Education and Awareness:
Conduct awareness campaigns on children's rights, safety, and the importance of education.
Involve schools and parents in workshops on child development and positive discipline.
Providing Safe Spaces:
Develop child-friendly zones such as parks, community centers, and libraries for recreation and learning.
Ensure safety measures in public spaces to protect children from accidents and harm.
Addressing Vulnerabilities:
Support programs for marginalized families to reduce economic stress that can lead to unsafe environments.
Provide counseling and rehabilitation services for at-risk children.

In Tamil Nadu, the resurgence of millet cultivation is not just an agricultural endeavor but a 
critical step towards enhancing food security, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting 
ecological sustainability. The decline of millet farming, once a pivotal element of the state's 
agricultural legacy, has far-reaching implications. It not only affects the state's ability to meet 
its nutritional needs but also puts pressure on water resources in regions with erratic rainfall 
patterns. The limited awareness of millets' nutritional value and their potential in addressing 
environmental challenges compounds the issue. The absence of dedicated millet hubs and 
educational infrastructure further restricts access to essential resources, innovative techniques, 
and knowledge dissemination, hindering the revival of millet cultivation.
Furthermore, the establishment of millet post-processing, value addition, and storage facilities, 
along with dedicated seed banks for millet varieties, is a pivotal step toward a sustainable millet 
ecosystem. The inadequacy of such infrastructure restricts the development of diverse millet
based products, curtails market opportunities, and undermines the income potential for farmers. 
Additionally, insufficient storage facilities result in significant post-harvest losses, diminishing 
the overall economic viability of millet cultivation. The absence of dedicated seed banks for 
millet varieties puts at risk the genetic diversity of these essential crops, particularly in the face 
of changing environmental conditions and evolving agricultural practices. Therefore, the 
establishment of a comprehensive Millet Hub in Trichy, focusing millet value addition, 
emerges as a crucial initiative that not only addresses immediate challenges but also paves the 
way for a sustainable and resilient future for millet-based agriculture in Tamil Nadu.

Need of the proposed millet hub:
I.	   Increased market value and demand for value-added millet products.  
II.	Increased awareness and knowledge about millet cultivation, nutrition, and benefits.
III.	Improved millet cultivation practices and increased production. 
IV.	Adoption rate of recommended millet cultivation practices. 
V.	Diversification of millet products, increased market value, and income generation


Detail Explanation of target group(s):
*10 Villages in Marungapuri Block and 10 Villages of Vaiyampatti Block have been short listed. 
*In each village, 30 farmers and a total number of 600 farmers will be selected every year for our interventions. 
*Each village will have volunteers who will be coordinated and guided by AHIMSA’s Project Coordinator. He / She will visit each village once in a week. Volunteers will act as bridge between the organization and the women farmers
