Day care centers for aged persons are community-based facilities designed to provide care, support, and engagement for elderly individuals during the day. These centers aim to promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of senior citizens, particularly those who may be socially isolated or in need of supervised care.

AHIMSA  was established in 1989 with a mission to uplift marginalized farming communities , landless laborers in Tamil Nadu, India. We committed to improving the quality of life for underprivileged communities.

especially women in the millet sector.

processing and storage facilities. 
5. Market Access and Economic Growth: Broader market access for millet products, 
fostering economic growth and sustainability. 
The establishment of a millet hub in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, offers several feasibility and 
advantages that make it a viable and valuable endeavor for the region. Here's an overview of 
the feasibility and advantages of this project in Trichy.

Collaborate with Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Gandhigram Rural University, Trichy Agro Business Incubation Forum (TABiF), and the Department of Agriculture. 

To measure whether the project objectives are achieved, a results-based monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework should be used. Below is a breakdown of each objective along with suggested key performance indicators (KPIs) and methods of measurement:
1. Increased Millet Cultivation
Objective: Expansion of cultivation areas and improved yields per hectare.
Indicators:
Hectares of land under millet cultivation (baseline vs. endline).
Average yield per hectare (kg/ha).
Methods:
Periodic farmer surveys.
Remote sensing/GIS mapping.

2. Enhanced Food Security

Objective: Greater availability and consumption of nutrient-rich millets.
Indicators:
Household consumption rate of millets (kg per capita).
Dietary diversity scores (including millets).
Number of households reporting improved food access.

3. Income Generation

Agro-Biodiversity Conservation Through Restore Traditional Millet Cultivation

The summer from April. Fodder from trees and grass mostly available the target area. Winter and rainy season is nit good for got rearing. So, we plan April 1st.

In India’s patriarchal context, women are often defined by their relationships with men—as wives, mothers, or daughters. This societal structure deeply marginalizes single women, a category that includes women who are never married, separated, divorced, abandoned, widowed, or whose husbands are missing (often referred to as “half-widows”). Also included are women living without their spouses for at least one year and single mothers. These women face numerous challenges including violence, exclusion, limited access to services, and systemic denial of rights.

Their status renders them vulnerable within their families and communities. Due to widespread patriarchal norms, single women are often denied access to property, inheritance, secure employment, and social recognition. They are seen as incomplete or burdensome, and their economic and social needs are commonly neglected. Although some policy measures, like the 2016 Draft National Policy for Women and Tamil Nadu’s 2021 policy on single women, acknowledge their vulnerability, implementation remains limited.

Among single women, those with adult sons face unique challenges. There is a societal assumption that sons will provide support, leading to the denial of welfare benefits and ignoring the woman’s independent identity and needs. This reinforces the stereotype that single women cannot exist autonomously.

The Goat Rearing Project aims to empower and uplift old widows in Vaiyampatti block by providing a sustainable source of income through livestock management. This initiative is designed to address economic vulnerability among widows.

3. Ensuring a Safe Childhood: Strategies for Community Action

ACTIONS:
Establish child protection committees to monitor and address issues like abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
Implement local helplines and reporting mechanisms to ensure timely intervention.
Promoting Education and Awareness:
Conduct awareness campaigns on children's rights, safety, and the importance of education.
Involve schools and parents in workshops on child development and positive discipline.
Providing Safe Spaces:
Develop child-friendly zones such as parks, community centers, and libraries for recreation and learning.
Ensure safety measures in public spaces to protect children from accidents and harm.
Addressing Vulnerabilities:
Support programs for marginalized families to reduce economic stress that can lead to unsafe environments.
Provide counseling and rehabilitation services for at-risk children.
Fostering Community Engagement:
Encourage local leaders, NGOs, and volunteers to work collaboratively in safeguarding children.
Promote a culture of responsibility where every adult feels accountable for child safety.

Around 120 school-going children from Vaiyampatty Block of Trichy district, aged between 6-14 years, from underserved households have been identified to participate in this initiative. This will benefit at least 90 families and communities striving for improved educational opportunities and socio-economic development (in two panchayats viz. Palayakottai and Pudukottai from where children likely to participate

The commitment of participant beneficiaries to allocate 1 percent of their net income back into the project is crucial. This reinvestment strategy ensures a steady flow of funds for the maintenance, expansion, and improvement of the goat-rearing operations. It allows for the purchase of additional goats, improvement of the shelter, and enhancement of the hydroponic fodder system over time.

We motivate that benificiary once in three months and how can able to manage the issues and address the problems through the build the level of knowledge and promote economic empowerment by their own contribution. And we would plan to insist to all beneficiaries for ensuring the insurance that purchased goats by their own contribution for managing any kind of lose in the natural calamities or affecting the disease or death. It would help to attain the loss of their goats.

Gender Equality and Social Upliftment:
This project empowers single women and fosters gender equality. Single women collectively gain control over goat-rearing operations, financial decision-making, and resource management, elevating their social standing and independence.

Community Development and Collaborative Strength:
Goat-rearing can catalyse community development and collective strength. By forming collectives, women can exchange expertise, collectively market their products, and strengthen community bonds, increasing their collective negotiating power.



These single women live in the villages of Purathakudy, Vaiyampatti block in the Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu, India. This block is characterized by significant socio-economic challenges, largely due to its geographical and climatic conditions. Frequent droughts severely impact agricultural productivity and livelihoods in the region, which is marked by diverse terrain, including hard rock and sedimentary formations. These factors present unique agricultural challenges, particularly for single women who struggle to sustain their livelihoods as agricultural labourers. The erratic rainfall patterns and predatory practices of local moneylenders further aggravate their difficulties, leading to a substantial lack of stable employment opportunities.

Agriculture, the mainstay of the block's economy, provides limited and seasonal employment, often not exceeding three months annually. This precarious situation disproportionately affects women agricultural workers, especially single women labourers. Despite their significant contributions to agricultural production and household management, these women frequently encounter neglect, and their efforts are often undervalued. They face poverty, restricted income sources, and limited access to vital resources, further marginalizing them in the socio-economic landscape of Tiruchirappalli. 
Recognizing these challenges, AHIMSA, has initiated various programs to empower these old single women in the targeted villages.
