How Stichting Aelwijn Florisz found the right initiatives for €100,000 in extra budget

The budget is there, but how do you find initiatives that match your goals? And how do you set up an application form and internal process for it? Stichting Aelwijn Florisz organised it smartly and quickly with FindNFund.

In 2026, Stichting Aelwijn Florisz celebrates its 35th anniversary in its current form and is therefore making €100,000 extra available for compelling initiatives for children in need in the Rotterdam region. But then the real question begins: how do you find suitable initiatives? Through a one-off call and the FNF community, the foundation reaches initiatives it would otherwise not find. It is a question that resonates more widely, now that more endowment foundations are looking for ways to organise extra spending due to the stricter ANBI rules.

Problem

How do you organise extra spending without disrupting your regular application process? At the same time, Stichting Aelwijn Florisz wants to reach other social initiatives beyond its established circle of familiar applicants.

Approach

The one-off anniversary call is shared with the FNF community of 7,000+ social organisations. Together with FindNFund, the foundation sets up an accessible pre-application, so organisations can first present their idea. Based on this, the foundation invites a selection to submit a full application.

Solution

Because the foundation already works with FindNFund Smart Application and Smart Grant Management, the anniversary call could be set up from A to Z within a single day. FindNFund also supported the distribution: the call was sent to the entire FNF community and amplified with an article, LinkedIn posts and promotional material.

Impact

Within six weeks, 40+ pre-applications were submitted, including 25 from organisations that were new to the foundation. This allowed Stichting Aelwijn Florisz to spend an extra €100,000 on initiatives that match its goals, without changing its regular way of working.

“Because of a one-off larger budget or, for example, the new ANBI rules, many foundations will find that their application processes need to be set up differently. That calls for new choices: how do you spend that budget and how do you organise it?”
